S Korea fines Google, MetaBillions wins over privateness allegations

South Korea fined Alphabet’s Google and Meta platforms tens of millions of {dollars} after allegations of privateness regulation violations, officers stated on Wednesday.

The Personal Information Protection Commission stated in an announcement that it fined Google 69.2 billion received ($50 million) and Meta 30.8 billion received ($22 million).

Google and Meta didn’t instantly remark.

The privateness panel stated the companies didn’t explicitly notify service customers and procure prior consent when gathering and analyzing behavioral data to gauge their pursuits or use them for custom-made ads.
