The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing folks accustomed to the matter, that Samsung Electronics Co. has been granted a one-year exemption from new US sanctions that block exports of superior chips and associated gear to China.
The paper stated the US Commerce Department licensed Samsung to accumulate chip-making gear and different gadgets wanted to take care of its memory-chip manufacturing in China.
