Sania-Ram pair in blended doubles quarterfinals of Australian Open

India’s Sania Mirza and her American companion Rajeev Ram superior to the blended doubles quarter-finals of the Australian Open with straight units wins over Alain Perez and Matvey Middlekup right here on Sunday.

The unseeded Indian-American pair took one hour and 27 minutes to beat Australian Perez and Dutch Middlekop 7-6 (8/6), 6-4 of their second spherical conflict on Court 3.

Mirza and Ram will now face the winners of one other spherical between Sam Stosur and Matthew Ebden and Jamie Forlis and Jason Kubler within the quarterfinals.

Mirza and Ram had defeated Serbia’s Alexandra Krunic and Nikola Kacic within the first spherical.

Earlier this week, six-time Grand Slam winner Mirza was knocked out within the first spherical of the ladies’s doubles occasion.

Mirza, who retired after the 2022 season, is the one Indian left within the first Grand Slam of the season after Rohan Bopanna and his Croatian companion Darija Jurak Schreiber crashed out of the blended doubles occasion on Saturday.
