Saudi Arabian GP: Jehan Daruvala claims second podium of F2 season

Indian racer Jehan Daruvala claimed his second podium of the season by ending third within the Formula 2 Feature race, held on the sidelines of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Jehan raced brilliantly after ranging from the 14th place on the grid on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Sunday.

The 23-year-old from Mumbai, started his weekend on the again foot after a mechanical problem hampered his qualifying spherical.

But the Red Bull-backed racer used a mixture of race craft, technique and tire administration to claw his manner up the ladder.

“It’s very satisfying. Coming into this weekend I knew Prema (Racing) had a very good automobile. I used to be actually down after qualifying. But as soon as we found that our lack of tempo was right down to a mechanical problem, it made me consider once more,” Jehan, who races for the Italian staff, mentioned.

“It was good damage limitation and honestly third was probably the maximum we could have had today (Sunday).”

Jehan, who went from thirteenth to seventh in Saturday’s dash race, earned his ninth podium in F2 with a mature drive.

He handed two vehicles off the road firstly, pulled off a daring move across the outdoors of three vehicles on Turn 1 at one stage, and swept previous fellow Red Bull junior Ayumu Iwasa on the start-finish straight.

He timed his lone pit cease to perfection and used all his expertise to maintain his tempo up, searching down and passing Marcus Armstrong whereas managing tire put on over an extended second stint on the more durable tyre.

Jehan now heads to historic Imola for the following spherical of the season which is able to happen from April 22-24.
