The casting of Shefali Shah as Akshay Kumar’s mom in Waqt has drawn the ire of netizens for years now. Shefali taking part in a mom to somebody who is nearly her age has usually been quoted for example of the movie business failing its ladies by casting them in stereotypical roles. Now, the actor has spoken up concerning the casting and mentioned it was her choice to play the function.
In a chat with Bollywood Bubble through the promotions of Jalsa, Shefali was requested about taking part in a mom on-screen. Here, she mentioned, “I did Waqt because I wanted to do it. In fact, Vipul had said don’t do it.” Shefali’s husband Vipul Amrutlal Shah directed the 2005 movie. She continued, “He mentioned don’t do it and I used to be like, I beloved the script, I beloved the half and Amit ji steered, ‘why do not you ask Shefali?’ He (Vipul) mentioned ‘hear, I do not assume this can be a good concept’. I used to be like ‘Yay! I’ll be working with two of my favourite males.’ I used to be very excited working with Vipul and Amit ji so it was my selection.”
Owning as much as the choice that she made for herself, Shefali mentioned, “There is no point of doing a retrospect because I did what was right for me at that point in time. Today, I might look at it differently but why waste time and energy trying to analyze what I did years ago.”
Shefali added that she has no drawback taking part in a mom on display as she is herself a mom in actual life. “I just don’t want to play a mother to somebody who is much older than me,” she mentioned.
