A glimpse of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah launched on Thursday afternoon. Jointly introduced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Amazon Prime Video India, the movie will launch on August 12, forward of the nation’s Independence Day.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, “Shershaah is a story of valor, love and sacrifice, and is inspired by the life of Captain Vikram Batra (PVC). The film celebrates his valor, and honors his priceless sacrifice in the 1999 Kargil War. Staying true to his codename ‘Sher Shah’, Captain Batra’s valiant fight and ultimate sacrifice played a vital role in India’s victory.”
Speaking in regards to the movie in a press release, Karan stated, “Sher Shah is the true story of a warfare hero whose indomitable spirit and bravado led our nation to victory. His sacrifice is priceless and his life is an inspiration for generations to come back. We are extraordinarily happy to have a house for a real cinematic marvel at Amazon Prime Video, and are excited to mark the start of a brand new chapter in our relationship with them.
