immediately, however trailer launch of Sardar UdhamDirector Shoojit Sircar was requested why he did not watch for the movie to launch in theatres, even supposing the movie was made for the large display. Shoojit mentioned, ‘It is an advanced query. Every movie has a future and ‘Sardar Udham’ landed with Amazon Prime. This was not the scenario after I shot the movie. We shot the movie for theatres. Shoojit was one of many first filmmakers to launch his Gulabo Sitabo (2020), starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, on the OTT platform, when the Covid-19 lockdown was introduced in India final 12 months. The lockdown introduced a sudden halt to cinemas and cinema enterprise at the moment. However, the filmmaker then confronted criticism for his resolution.

Addressing this, he mentioned, “When Gulabo Sitabo Happened, there was a lot of discussion about why I released that film (on OTT). I gave my explanation; The situation was such that we could not stop the film. I am also very impatient when there is a film. I just want to reach people quickly.”

Elaborating additional, he mentioned, “What I experienced after ‘Gulabo’ was the reach the film has got. I felt this film needed a huge global platform apart from our Indian regions. That’s also the way forward for me. There was a good reason. Yes, the cinematic feel of a theater will definitely be missed, but it is not a compromise on cinematic narrative that I have done. It is as cinematic on the big screen as it is on the small screen.”

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, Sardar Udham will stream on Amazon Prime Video from October 16. Vicky Kaushal is taking part in the title position.
