Popular playback singer Kalyani Menon handed away at a personal hospital in Chennai on Monday resulting from age-related sickness, sources near her household mentioned. She was 80 years outdated.
Sources mentioned Kalyani, mom of famend director and founding father of Mindscreen Film Institute Rajiv Menon, developed stroke signs and was instantly rushed to the hospital the place she breathed her final.
The final rites and cremation will happen on Tuesday afternoon at Basant Nagar within the metropolis.
Kalyani Menon began her profession in singing as a classical singer within the Seventies. Menon’s well-known songs in Malayalam with famous singer KJ Yesudas embody “Ritubheda Kalpana Charutha Nalakiya” from the 1983 movie Mangalam Nerunnu and “Pavanarachezhuthunu Kolangalenam” from the Mohanlal-starrer Vietnam Colony, launched in 1992.
Born in Ernakulam, Kalyani began singing on the age of 5 on the “Navratri Sangeet Utsav” held on the well-known TDM Hall in Chennai. She began her profession as a playback singer by singing within the Malayalam movie Abla, directed by Thopil Bhasi.
Apart from Malayalam, he has sung for high composers Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman in a number of Tamil movies.
