Spectators take a swing at Rory McIlroy’s membership on the Scottish Open

A spectator was pulled off the course on the Scottish Open on Friday after taking a membership from Rory McIlroy’s bag and taking some swings with it.

The incident passed off on the tenth tee, the place McIlroy waited for his second spherical to start at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

Footage broadly unfold on social media confirmed a person strolling on a tee, overlaying the top of McIlroy’s driver after which grabbing an iron from the bag. Four-time main winner McIlroy appeared on in awe.

The man was finally escorted off the tee by a safety guard after the membership was handed over to McIlroy’s caddy, Harry Diamond.

“Around 8 a.m. Friday morning, a spectator entered the tenth tee zone,” learn an announcement from the European Tour.

“He was quickly rescued from T by security personnel and the matter is in the hands of Police Scotland.”

US Open champions Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas, world No. 1 and three respectively, had been additionally on the tee as McIlroy’s enjoying companions. No one was harm within the incident.

David Wilson, a member of close by membership Killspindi, who posted the footage, informed The Scotsman newspaper: “The players laughed saying they knew he was not a golfer when they saw his catch.”
