Sri Lanka gained the toss and scored 386 runs within the first innings. West Indies posted a 230-run result in take a 156-run lead after the restart on Wednesday at 224-9. Sri Lanka then declared their second innings early.
Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne scored 147 runs within the first innings after scoring 83 runs. Angelo Mathews hit two sixes and 6 fours for his unbeaten 69.

West Indies’ second innings collapse started when off-spinner Mendis dismissed West Indies captain Craig Brathwaite lbw with out scoring a run within the fourth over. Mathews took a superb catch at mid-on and dismissed Jermaine Blackwood (9) off left-arm spinner Embuldenia.
When Mendis bowled Jason Holder within the first ball, he confronted a ball that went straight, as West Indies fell 18-6.
Nkrumah Bonner (18 not out) and Joshua da Silva (15 not out) placed on 34 runs for the seventh wicket when the sport was referred to as off early because of poor mild.
Mendis’s bowling figures had been 4-17 whereas Embuldeniya scored 2-18.
