Sports Ministry indicators MoU with NTPC, REC;  2 PSUs commit Rs 215 crore to NSDF

The Sports Ministry on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the nation’s largest energy conglomerate NTPC and Rural Electrification Corporation, during which the 2 PSUs pledged Rs 215 crore to the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF).

While NTPC will give Rs 115 crore for the event of archery, REC will give Rs 100 crore for girls’s hockey and boxing. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister RK Singh, NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh and REC CMD Vivek Kumar have been amongst others concerned within the signing of the MoUs.

NTPC has been supporting archers in partnership with the Sports Ministry, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Archery Association of India (AAI) since 2018, with an intention to offer world class services to proficient sportspersons with worldwide publicity. As a part of its CSR initiative, NTPC has dedicated Rs 115 crore over 5 years for the event of Archery. Of the whole Rs 115 crore, Rs 15 crore will probably be spent on preparation of area targets, organising of coaching facilities and tools like bow and arrow as a one-time expenditure.

Remaining Rs 100 crore for use over 5 years (Rs 20 crore each year) as recurring expenditure for growth of archery at grassroots stage, coaching of recognized expertise, coaching of elite expertise, growth of excessive performing coaches, procurement Will be completed. FOP tools, pleasant science laboratory for growth sport and archery, scholarship/prize cash for top performers, advance coaching/aggressive publicity/international coaching and publicity to sub-junior and junior archers.

Speaking on the event, Thakur stated that monetary help was the spine behind the promotion of sports activities within the nation and extra could be required to return ahead with such noble deeds within the authorities’s endeavor to make India a sports activities nation. Corporate and PSUs urged. Money energy is required to advertise sports activities. This initiative of NTPC and REC will empower athletes to win medals for the nation.
