Deficient rainfall and heat temperature in Srinagar have pressured the closure of Asia’s largest tulip backyard, which attracted 3.60 lakh guests this spring, an official stated on Monday.

The backyard, overlooking the well-known Dal Lake, was closed for public on Monday owing to shrinking bloom, its in-charge Inam Rehman Sofi advised PTI.

The backyard has been closed because the tulip bloom shrunk after round 26 days.

“We tried our greatest to increase the bloom, our staff labored very exhausting they usually used to sprinkle water even through the night time. But, with poor rainfall and unusually heat temperature, the bloom began to shrink a bit early,” Sofi stated.

The official stated the common lifespan of tulip flowers is three to 4 weeks, however heavy rains or an excessive amount of warmth can destroy them.

He stated whereas the Floriculture Department had planted tulip bulbs in a phased method in order that the flowers stay within the backyard for a month or extra, they bloomed concurrently.

This yr the backyard housed 68 styles of tulips, together with six new ones.
