Gill’s innings was the best T20I rating collected by an Indian, as he turned the eighth Indian batsman to attain in triple digits within the shortest format. With his rating, Gill went previous Kohli’s 122, which he scored towards Afghanistan within the 2022 Asia Cup.
The 23-year-old was named participant of the match for his knock.

“When you put in the practice it feels good and it pays off. I was backing myself to score big. It didn’t happen in the Sri Lanka series, but it’s good to see it working now,” Gill later stated.
