The West Bengal authorities on Sunday stated it might not launch its common vaccination marketing campaign towards COVID-19 from Monday, citing shortfall within the provide of the vaccine.
“There is still a shortage of vaccines. We are giving priority to specially identified groups. The ongoing process of vaccination will continue. We outlined the priority group, and they will be our first target to cover… We will take stock of the supply of vaccines to decide on future course of action. As of now, there has been no change in the policy since yesterday. However, according to the supplies we get, we will increase the amount of vaccination daily,” stated a well being official.
The “priority group” consists of households of healthcare employees, bus conductors, drivers, hawkers and others.
