The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by Union Minister Ajai Mishra in search of the enchantment of the Uttar Pradesh authorities in opposition to the acquittal within the over 20-year-old homicide case.

The case pertains to the homicide of 24-year-old Prabhat Gupta in Lakhimpur Kheri in 2000.
Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra had confronted trial for Gupta’s homicide and was acquitted in 2004, following which the state filed an enchantment.
A courtroom of Additional Sessions Judge at Lakhimpur Kheri acquitted Mishra and others in 2004 for lack of ample proof.
The state authorities, aggrieved by the acquittal, had filed an enchantment whereas the household of the deceased had filed a separate revision petition difficult the decision.
Mishra had moved the apex courtroom in opposition to the executive order handed by the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, rejecting the prayer for switch of the federal government enchantment from Lucknow to Allahabad.
