Tamil Nadu authorities points order to withdraw defamation instances filed by AIADMK authorities towards media

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday issued orders to withdraw 90 defamation instances filed towards journalists and media organizations between 2012 and February 2021. Cases had been registered towards English and Tamil dailies, weekly magazines and tv information channels by the earlier AIADMK authorities.

The DMK-led authorities claimed that it was fulfilling one of many guarantees made in its election manifesto.

Four instances towards the English press had been registered towards the editor of The Hindu newspaper, 5 towards the editor of The Times of India and one towards The Economic Times.
