Theater house owners warn Telugu filmmakers towards going on to OTT platforms

Theater house owners in Telangana on Wednesday banded collectively to protest towards Telugu filmmakers who’re releasing their new movies immediately on streaming platforms. At a press meet, members of the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) made emotional remarks, reprimanding the producers who have been allegedly placing their egocentric curiosity to the survival of the complete movie trade.

TFCC Secretary Sunil Narang requested filmmakers to attend until October earlier than shifting their movies on to the OTT platform. “Why do you think we are trying to keep the theater business alive despite all the problems? This is because of our passion for cinema. And it will be killed (if the trend continues). So please understand and support us,” he stated.

The members additionally famous that any longer they’d add a clause to contracts with filmmakers to make sure a big time hole between a movie’s theatrical launch and its digital premiere. “If they still go ahead with straight OTT releases, then we know how to deal with them in future. So please do not switch to OTT platforms,” warned a member of the TFCC.

Theater house owners are upset with Suresh Productions, which has apparently taken the OTT route for his or her upcoming movies Narappa and Drishyam 2, which stars Venkatesh within the lead.

Suresh Productions is but to react to the feedback of Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce.
