Delhi is making ready for a peak of round 37,000 circumstances a day in case of a potential third wave of Covid-19 within the metropolis.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal mentioned that in two conferences with the officers on Friday, it was determined to arrange the bottom degree for 37 thousand circumstances. “If the cases are more than this, we will have arrangements for that as well. Based on this projection, all the calculations of beds, ICU, children’s beds, oxygen and medicines are being done. A Pediatric Task Force has also been formed to prepare for children who fall ill. For example, out of the total ICU beds, how many children should be worked out. Equipment for this will be different, like masks specifically for their use,” he mentioned.

In the final two weeks, there was a pointy decline in circumstances together with the positivity charge in Delhi. On Saturday, Kejriwal mentioned that round 400 circumstances with a positivity charge of 0.5 per cent have been registered within the final 24 hours. Delhi noticed a peak of over 28,000 circumstances on April 20.

Kejriwal mentioned the provision of oxygen has created an issue within the second wave, which is the deadliest wave thus far for the town.

“Hospitals were not getting oxygen, people were not getting beds, there was a lot of struggle. Finally, after the intervention of the Supreme Court and cooperation from the Center, we got oxygen, but till we did not get it, there was an atmosphere of panic everywhere. If the next wave comes, we do not want such a situation again and it has been decided to create an oxygen storage capacity of 420 MT. Indraprastha Gas Limited has been asked to set up a 150 tonne oxygen production plant. They have said it will take 18 months, but we have to start somewhere,” Kejriwal mentioned.

There isn’t any oxygen plant in Delhi as no heavy industrial exercise is allowed by the order of National Green Tribunal. Kejriwal mentioned there aren’t any tankers within the metropolis as Delhi just isn’t an industrial metropolis.

“We are procuring 25 tankers, and 64 small oxygen plants are being set up. Process is going on. We hope they will be ready in next two months… We are also procuring oxygen cylinders and concentrators… We are also looking at medicines and have seen that people have been sharing the names of medicines on WhatsApp and then they go out of the market. seem to. A committee of doctors and experts will be formed and they will say whether the drug will help in the management of covid. After that we will try to achieve it. If the medicine does not work then we will start an awareness campaign about it so that people do not run unnecessarily. Secondly, a list of essential medicines has been prepared. We will create buffer stock for these medicines,” the CM mentioned.

Kejriwal mentioned Delhi can also be within the means of organising two genome sequencing laboratories.

“These laboratories will be set up at Lok Nayak Hospital and ILBS Hospital so that we can also know about the variant in Delhi. If it is old or new,” Kejriwal mentioned.
