Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed the Income Tax division’s raids in opposition to media teams Dainik Bhaskar and Bharat Samachar as an try and intimidate the media, saying a transparent message is being despatched that anybody who speaks in opposition to the BJP authorities won’t be spared. .
On Thursday, raids had been performed on the premises of two media homes in several cities and searches had been performed in several cities of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
“The Income Tax raids against Dainik Bhaskar and Bharat Samachar are an attempt to scare the media. His message is clear – those who speak against the BJP government will not be spared. This is a dangerous thought process. Everyone should raise their voice against this and these raids should be stopped immediately. Media should be allowed to function freely,” Kejriwal tweeted.
In a message on its web site, Dainik Bhaskar mentioned the federal government performed raids in opposition to it because it “showed the true picture of the government’s incompetence before the country during the second wave of Covid-19”.
