Filmmaker Tim Burton says his days of directing movies for Hollywood studio Disney are over. The 64-year-old director, who started his profession with Mouse House as an animator straight out of faculty, recalled his expertise directing Disney’s 2019 movie Dumbo.
Burton instructed leisure information web site Deadline that the movie, which was a reimagining of Walt Disney’s 1941 animated characteristic, was a “terrible big circus”.
“My history is that I started there. I was hired and fired there several times throughout my career,” mentioned the filmmaker, who has been identified for The Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland and its sequel, Alice Known for Disney blockbusters like Through the Looking Glass.
“The thing about Dumbo is that I feel like my days with Disney are over: I realized I was Dumbo, that I was working in this awful big circus, and I needed to escape. That film is quite autobiographical to a certain level.”
Featuring a star-studded solid of Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green and Alan Arkin, Dumbo carried out poorly on the field workplace and was panned by critics.
Burton additionally criticized how Disney has shied away from smaller tasks in favor of specializing in its extra established Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars franchises.
“It has become very homogenous, very cohesive. There is less room for a variety of things,” he mentioned.
