‘Touch upon my private view, not that of Congress’: Udit Raj after response on President Murmu’s assertion

A day after Congress chief Dr Udit Raj protested over his remarks on President Draupadi Murmu, he clarified that his assertion was his private view and didn’t replicate the folks of the celebration he represented.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Raj had stated: “No country should get a President like Draupadi Murmu ji. Chamchagiri also has its limits. It is said that 70% of the people of Gujarat eat salt. If you yourself live life by eating salt, you will know.”

On Thursday, he tweeted the clarification saying, “My statement regarding Draupadi Murmuji is mine and has nothing to do with Congress.”

This is the second time in latest months {that a} Congress chief has discovered himself within the limelight for his remarks concerning the President. Earlier, through the monsoon session of Parliament, Congress chief in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury addressed President Murmu as ‘President’ throughout a speech, which was criticized by different members of the House. However, Choudhary later apologized for the remarks.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has despatched a discover to the Congress chief over his assertion about President Murmu and requested him to apologise.
