Truecaller on PIL: UPI stopped in 2019 for not sharing knowledge with anybody

After the Bombay High Court issued notices to the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the central and state authorities on a public curiosity litigation (PIL) alleging that Truecaller was sharing consumer knowledge with others, the Swedish caller identification app claimed. denied, calling it “misinformation”.

The petition, which was filed by Shashank Poster, claims that the app collects knowledge of all customers and shares it with a few of its companions with out customers’ consent, after which leaves the legal responsibility on the customers. It has been alleged within the PIL that Truecaller is violating the information privateness of customers by violating the present legal guidelines of the nation.

It mentioned, “In accordance with a strategic business decision last year, Truecaller ceased offering Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment services and has not signed up any new users on UPI since August 2019.”

The firm additionally mentioned that, “Truecaller data is secure, 100 percent stored in India (without any foreign backups or mirrors) and stored with the highest level of security.”

A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice GS Kulkarni, after issuing notices to all of the respondents, adjourned the matter until July 29.
