Two Diving Support Vessels to be launched in Vizag on Thursday: Navy

Two Diving Support Vessels (DSVs) of the Indian Navy can be launched in Visakhapatnam on Thursday within the presence of Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar.

The DSV is the primary of its form to be indigenously designed and constructed for the Navy at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam, officers mentioned on Wednesday.

The Navy mentioned the DSV is to be launched on September 22.

“Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar will be the chief guest at the launching ceremony,” it mentioned.

The Navy mentioned the ships can be launched by his spouse, Naval Welfare and Welfare Association (NWWA) President Kala Hari Kumar, who will carry out and christen the normal honors.

The ships are 118.4 meters lengthy, 22.8 meters vast at level and can have a displacement of 9,350 tonnes, the Navy mentioned in an announcement.

“These ships can be deployed for deep sea diving operations. Additionally, together with the Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV), the DSV is designed to hold out submarine rescue operations when required. In addition, these ships can be able to finishing up steady patrolling, search and rescue operations and helicopter operations within the excessive seas.
