The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday made its sixth arrest in reference to its probe into alleged conversions of “over a thousand people” who had been allegedly lured by cash, jobs and marriage.

Salahuddin Zainuddin Sheikh was arrested from Vadodara, Gujarat.

A senior officer of Gujarat ATS informed Indian Express“The accused Salauddin Shaikh was arrested from Vadodara and produced in a court docket in Ahmedabad on Wednesday night. The UP ATS stated in an announcement that Shaikh confessed that he knew a cleric, Umar Gautam, who was arrested together with fellow cleric Mufti Qazi Jehangir Alam Qasmi in Delhi on June 21. Police stated that Sheikh used to ship Umar cash by way of hawala for conversion.

According to the police, Qasmi and Gautam allegedly transformed “over a thousand people” illegally. The ATS claimed that the duo together with their associates had been operating a company named Islamic Dawa Center (IDC) which was doing conversions.

UP Police has arrested three extra individuals on this case on Monday.
