UP: Three together with former IAS officer booked for ‘defaming’ the federal government

A retired IAS officer and two others had been named in an FIR in Kanpur earlier this week after a Twitter consumer slammed them and the state authorities by sharing a “siddha audio” on them and the state authorities, officers mentioned on Wednesday. He was accused of defaming the federal government. This was the second FIR registered towards former bureaucrat Surya Pratap Singh in May.

Based on the criticism of Atul Kushwaha, a resident of Kanpur, an FIR was registered towards Singh, Puneet Saini, a resident of Lucknow and Himanshu Saini, a resident of Patna, at Kalyanpur police station on May 31.

In the criticism filed a day earlier, Kushwaha alleged, “On May 30, retired IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh tweeted a voice recording through which two individuals are speaking and speaking about taking cash for tweeting in favor of Yogi ji. Huh. In the dialog, one individual, Puneet Saini… and one other, Himanshu Saini (Vikas) is talking and my title has additionally come up. I’ve been a supporter of Yogi ji for a number of years and have been writing in his favor on social media. I selflessly propagate good insurance policies of Yogi ji and authorities on Twitter. But underneath the poor politics of the opposition, my title is being maligned on social media. The audio can be attempting to defame Yogi Sarkar.

Kanpur Commissioner Aseem Arun mentioned, ‘Our groups are interrogating him in Lucknow and Patna. We are probing the matter and attempting to succeed in the supply of the audio.”

The police have invoked part 505 (assertion inflicting public mischief) of the IPC and part 66 of the IT Act towards the accused.

Responding to the FIR, Singh tweeted, “A case has been registered against me by a troll. A troll who once said he would expose corruption in the information department, and today is saying I conspired? Clear that boy [the complainant] pawn and target [to] Shut down my voice and yours…”

The former civil servant mentioned it was “the height of totalitarianism”. He additional mentioned, “A case has been registered against me for Rs 2 per tweet audio…”

On May 13, a tweet in Unnao towards Singh alleged that the state authorities had filed an FIR for “burying 67 bodies on the banks of the Ganges” utilizing an earthmover.
