Uttar Pradesh: Clash between police, SP-RLD employees over the arrest of members of the family of a panchayat member

Clashes broke out between police and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Samajwadi Party employees after the brother and two sons of an SP-backed district panchayat member had been arrested in Barut city of Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat on Saturday.

Protesters additionally blocked the Meerut-Baraut hyperlink highway for over three hours demanding the discharge of newly elected panchayat member Mehboob Ali’s brother Matloob and two sons Adil and Raju.

RLD’s Baghpat chief Jagpal Teotia accused the native police of appearing like brokers of the ruling BJP.

“Police is arresting harmless individuals to make sure the victory of BJP-backed candidate for the upcoming district panchayat chief submit. We won’t tolerate this. We will proceed our agitation until all these arrested on fabricated costs are freed.

However, the police have denied the allegations of the protesters.

Baraut DSP Alok Kumar Singh mentioned, “The three males had been arrested in reference to the FIR registered in opposition to them underneath the SC/ST Act. These arrests don’t have anything to do with the Zilla Panchayat elections. The native police had been doing their responsibility and a few political activists tried to cease them. We will take motion in opposition to those that prevented the police from discharging their responsibility.”

According to the police, bother broke out when officers of Binaluli police station arrested Matlub, Adil and Raju on Saturday afternoon and had been on their strategy to the police station. He mentioned that SP and RLD employees forcibly tried to free him.
