Varanasi University sacks visitor lecturer for remarks on Navratri fasting by ladies

The Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth administration has sacked a visitor lecturer and banned his entry into the college campus for allegedly making derogatory remarks on Navratri fasting by ladies.

Dr Mithilesh Gautam wrote in a social media publish in Hindi, “It is healthier for ladies to learn the Constitution of India and the Hindu Code Bill as a substitute of fasting for 9 days throughout Navratri.

“Their life might be free from concern and enslavement. Jai Bhim.” Taking cognizance of the post, Registrar Dr Sunita Pandey, initiating action against Gautam, said in an office order, “On September 29, college students had complained by means of a letter that Dr Mithilesh, Guest Lecturer, Department of Political Science Kumar Gautam had posted some materials on social media, which is in opposition to Hinduism. Pandey cited “widespread outrage” amongst college students in opposition to Gautam for the motion.

Pandey stated within the order, “…In view of the deteriorating environment of the University and the examinations being affected, I have been directed that Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Gautam be dismissed with immediate effect and his entry into the University campus has been banned in view of security.” be imposed.”
