Venus and Serena Williams not the tip, they’ll proceed to play doubles for 2-3 years: Childhood coach Rick McKees

Did the US Open finish Serena Williams’ tennis profession? She introduced her retirement three weeks in the past and has been in farewell mode ever since.

But her childhood coach Rick Mackie, who coached Venus and Serena from the ages of 10 and 9, funded their developmental years, and is sort of a father determine to her, says sisters not less than two. Will proceed to play doubles for years. Mackie’s relationship with the household was honored with a personality within the movie King Richard, starring Will Smith, primarily based on Richard, the daddy of the William sisters.

“Serena’s story is great. It all started for her at the US Open and it’s going to end here. She announced her retirement three weeks ago and is savoring it,” Mackie advised The Indian Express “But I believe it’s just from singles!”

“But it’s not going to be the end for him and Venus. I think they’ll be playing doubles for the next 2-3 years. You’re just going to cover half the court. Serve, they got it. Come back, they got it. Shot, they got it. They’re going to be serious contenders. I think they’ll play doubles. The public loves them. They’ve got this amazing brand, and what better way to change lives and play tennis? I think we will see him play doubles and possibly mixed doubles.”

Mackie says she’s not shocked that Serena determined to retire, however she thinks it is solely from singles. “I’m not shocked that Serena determined to retire. She’s injured and hasn’t performed that many matches through the years. She’s not somebody to play simply to play. She likes to win.

“And she is 41 years old, and has already played for so long. Her next act will be even bigger. She will inspire not only people in the African-American community but people from all walks of life. If I can do it, where I come from, so can you. I wasn’t in the front row, I wasn’t even in the back row, I wasn’t even in the building. Look where I came from. If I can do it then why can’t you. What a story to inspire people.”

Mackie appreciates Serena’s legacy. “In my mind, she’s going to go down as the best female tennis player ever, and in my book, the best female athlete ever and she’s going to be on Mount Rushmore. She’s like a pitbull; as big as the moment.” , she acquired higher.

“I saw how she was wired at a young age, but with Venus to win 23 Grand Slams, 6 US Open, 6 Australian Open, 3 French, 14 Grand Slams in doubles; they never lost, And four (Olympic) gold medals. They may have had 50 Grand Slam doubles, 50 mixed doubles but hey, they had to eat and sleep. You just can’t keep playing! But I believe now both sisters will play doubles.”
