Vice Admiral SN Ghormade takes over as the brand new Vice Chief of the Indian Navy

Navigation and Direction Specialist Vice Admiral SN Ghormade on Saturday took over as the brand new Vice Chief of the Indian Navy.

Admiral Ghormade has had an in depth operational stint on frontline warships of the Indian Navy together with Commanding Guided Missile Frigate INS Brahmaputra, Submarine Rescue Ship INS Observer and Minesweeper INS Alleppey.

He succeeded Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar, who retired after 39 years of service.

The Flag Officer was making a tri-service appointment of Deputy Chief (Operations and Training) at Headquarters of the Integrated Defense Staff earlier than taking up because the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff.

Vice Admiral Ghormade is an alumnus of the Naval Staff College and Naval War College, Mumbai on the US Naval War College on the National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla, Rhode Island.

He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 1 January 1984 and is named a Navigation and Direction specialist.

His essential employees appointments ashore included Assistant Chief of Staff (Human Resource Development), Chief of Personnel Director and Director of Naval Plans at Naval Headquarters.

In the rank of Vice Admiral, he has dealt with difficult and prestigious appointments of Director-General Naval Operations, Chief of Staff Eastern Naval Command and Controller Personnel Services.

The Flag Officer was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2017 and the Navy Medal in 2007 by the President of India.
