VVS Laxman to proceed as Bengal batting advisor; Laxmi Ratan Shukla returns as U-23 coach

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman was retained as Bengal’s batting advisor, whereas Lakshmi Ratan Shukla was appointed because the under-23 coach, his return to cricket six years after becoming a member of politics.

This would be the second innings for Shukla, the previous Bengal captain and all-rounder, who retired from all types of cricket in 2016 to hitch the Trinamool Congress.

Shukla turned an MLA from Howrah (North) and later served as Sports Minister underneath Arup Biswas.

In ladies’s cricket, Rituparna Roy would be the head coach whereas Charanjit Singh would be the assistant coach of the Bengal senior group.

“We have made some fresh appointments keeping in mind their aptitude and talent. We want Bengal cricket to shine and we have made such changes as we deem fit,” stated CAB secretary Snehasish Ganguly.

“We wish the new recruits all the best and hope they can get the best out of the different teams in Bengal.”
