When Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra visited Vishwa Vidyapeeth, a faculty within the Bengaluru suburb of Yelahanka, on Saturday, it was a dream come true for a lot of kids, a few of whom have been overwhelmed with emotion.
In a video posted on her social media accounts, Chopra is greeted by jubilant kids, certainly one of whom breaks down in tears after assembly her. When the 24-year-old requested her why she was crying, she replied: “My idol is in front of me right now.”
Another youngster may also be heard within the video saying, “Sir, are you really Neeraj Chopra?”

A javelin thrower is coaching for the beginning of the athletics season. Chopra just lately shifted his coaching base from Loughborough University within the UK to Potchefstroom in South Africa. Currently in between coaching, he’s in India for a number of occasions together with the Bharatiya Khel Samman 2023 Awards.
“It makes me so happy whenever I can put a smile on little kids’ faces, and it was even more special because they weren’t expecting me to be there. I had some time between my arrival in Bengaluru and attending an event, and I am glad I could make the best use of it. I hope that meeting me will inspire them in their journey as young athletes,” stated Chopra, who then spent a while with the youngsters, speaking to them, signing autographs and celebrating their Olympic gold medal win in Tokyo. Chopra will now journey to Inspire Institute of Sport in Bellary.
