For many years London’s Victorian-era sewers have discharged uncooked sewage into the River Thames after heavy rains.

But which may be about to vary, thanks to an enormous tunnel constructed underneath the river.

Seven meters broad, 25 km lengthy and costing round £5 billion, it’s designed to divert sewage right into a remedy plant in East London.
