Sir Lewis Hamilton obtained the knighthood from the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. Hamilton, who appeared at Windsor Castle along with his mom Carmen, is the fourth Formula 1 driver to be knighted after Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Stirling Moss.

The 36-year-old was awarded a knighthood on the 2021 New Year’s honors listing after equaling Michael Schumacher’s report of seven F1 world championships.

Hamilton obtained an MBE by the Queen in 2008 when he received his first world title.

Wednesday’s ceremony marked the primary public look since Hamilton’s loss to Max Verstappen.

Red Bull rival Max Verstappen cruised to championship glory on the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday after ending Britain’s quest for an unprecedented eighth Formula One title with a safety-car aided, last-lap go in Hamilton grace in defeat.

Meanwhile, Mercedes misplaced each of its protests when Lewis Hamilton misplaced the Formula One world title to Max Verstappen on the ultimate lap of the ultimate race within the season.
