BJP Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta on Thursday wrote to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal urging that the officers of Eastern and South-Eastern Railway in addition to the Metro Railway want the West Bengal authorities to renew suburban rail and metro companies. emphasised.

In his letter to Goyal, the BJP chief talked concerning the difficulties being confronted by the folks as a result of overcrowding in buses and different public transport. He mentioned that with correct COVID 19 protocol, trains must be allowed to run.

“The terms of the lockdown in West Bengal are whimsical. Buses are allowed but local trains and Kolkata Metro are not. The passengers are facing immense hardship and loss of livelihood. I have requested the Railway Minister to initiate the process of restarting services today,” Dasgupta mentioned in a tweet, sharing a duplicate of the letter.

Recently, the state authorities had introduced some relaxations, permitting public transport reminiscent of buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws to play with 50 per cent seating capability. However, suburban practice and Kolkata Metro companies remained suspended.
