actor Juhi Chawla He recalled how he and his co-star Aamir Khan needed to wrestle to advertise their movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which turned out to be their first massive movie in Bollywood. She stated she goes in individual and sticks film posters on the backs of taxis, and is usually requested by drivers to yell at her.
In a dialog with Film Companion, Juhi stated that nobody understands QSQT, and even the crew members who have been engaged on it had no thought what it was. He stated that whereas Aamir had some hoardings, there was lots of advertising and marketing carried out in a guerrilla approach.
She stated, “We have been all clueless. Director too unknown, cinematographer additionally unknown. We have been saying ‘we’, which was not likely the norm on the time. There was once massive multi-starrer movies in these days. So, clearly, the make-up makers, the hairdressers will focus on what is going on on, they usually’ll say, ‘I do not perceive what these individuals are making’. Anyway, the movie will get made and you are attempting to assist with the promotions.”
She continued, “We were completely clueless. Of course some hoardings came out… Who is Aamir Khan, the boy next to him… If you remember at that time, he used to stick posters behind taxis. So, we took posters from the production office, and there used to be long lines of taxis where I lived. And we used to ask them if we could stick our posters on the back of their taxis. Some of them were sweet, they didn’t even ask any questions and just asked us to go ahead and chug them. Others will ask, ‘Who are these people?’ And we’d tell them it was us. They used to say, ‘Bhaag jaao (go away)’.”
