Days After a girl claimed that her husband had died of Covid, the police on Saturday arrested her and her lover for killing her by giving sleeping capsules in milk.
On the morning of 24 May, Manohar Namdev Hande (27), working as a civil engineer in a non-public constructing building firm, was discovered lifeless at his residence in Uruli Devachi. His spouse, Ashwini (19), had instructed the police that Hande had examined optimistic for coronavirus and died of it.

Senior Inspector Rajendra Mokashi, in-charge of Loni Kalbhor police station, stated: “After the death, we started an investigation into its causes and the sequence of events. The wife of the deceased told us that her husband’s Kovid test has come positive. While the test report came back negative, we found that the person had in fact tested positive earlier but recovered. Due to various suspicious aspects, we kept a close watch and continued our investigation from different angles.”
The investigating officer of the case, Inspector Subhash Kale, stated, “The preliminary findings of the post-mortem have been inconclusive and the viscera was preserved for chemical evaluation. After sedating him, Ashwini and Sutar allegedly strangled Hande to loss of life and termed the incident as a loss of life of Kovid, police stated.
While Sutar was arrested late on Saturday evening, Ashwini was arrested on Sunday morning. Kale stated the 2 have been produced in a Pune court docket on Sunday and remanded to police custody until June 11.
