Debt-ridden Kerala entrepreneur commits suicide because of pandemic

An entrepreneur within the mild and sound sector in Kerala died by suicide on Tuesday, police stated, including that he was struggling financially as a result of Covid-induced disaster. The whole variety of excessive takers within the business has gone as much as eight.

According to the police, 47-year-old Okay Sumeesh, a local of Kollam, had a mortgage of Rs 10 lakh. “During the lockdown, he tried his hand at many other odd jobs and recently, he was in the fish trade. He was upset over the default in payment of bank loan…” police quoted his household as saying.

The mild and sound sector, which employs about 3 lakh folks within the state, together with 40,000-odd entrepreneurs, has been silent since March 2020, when the primary COVID-induced lockdown was imposed.
