At least two folks have been injured after a driver hit an onlooker at first of a Pride parade in South Florida on Saturday.
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis confirmed that the accident occurred Saturday night on the Stonewall Pride Parade within the close by city of Wilton Manors, WSVN-TV reported.
WPLG-TV reviews that the driving force of the truck has been taken into custody. Officials didn’t instantly present particulars in regards to the victims’ accidents or say whether or not they imagine the accident was intentional.

“We were at the beginning of the parade, right in front of Fort Lauderdale High School,” spectator Christina Curry instructed the South Florida SunSentinel. “Suddenly there was a loud sound of a truck and an accident occurred by way of a fence. … it was actually a deliberate act within the lanes of site visitors.”
Wilton Manors Police tweeted Saturday night time that the general public was not at risk.
According to WPLG-TV, Wilton Manors Mayor Scott Newton mentioned in an announcement, “A tragic event occurred at today’s Stonewall event.” “In honor of everyone involved, the parade has been canceled and a thorough investigation is underway.”
June is Pride Month, which commemorates the June 1969 police raid concentrating on homosexual patrons on the Stonewall Inn in New York, which led to a revolt of LGBTQ Americans and served as a catalyst for the homosexual rights motion.
