An armed robber, who snatched a gold chain from a 79-year-old lady throughout a morning stroll on Bajirao Road on Wednesday, was chased and nabbed by civilians and police on the spot. The accused has been recognized as Kunal Raju Kharat (25), a resident of Dattawadi.
Police mentioned, ‘Mangala Tikhe, an previous lady resident of Shukarwar Peth, had gone out for a morning stroll. At round 6.30 am, a youth snatched her gold chain value Rs 65,000 on Bajirao Road and tried to flee from the spot.
On shouting for Mangla’s assist, the individuals current on the spot together with Mangala’s son Prasad and daughter-in-law Prachi began chasing the robber. Policemen posted on patrolling obligation additionally reached the spot and nabbed Kharat. The robbed chain and a sharp-edged weapon had been recovered by the police from him.
A case was registered towards him at Kharak police station and police sub-inspector Rahul Khandagale is probing the matter. Police mentioned Kharat, a history-sheeter, was earlier booked for varied offenses together with automobile theft and sexual assault of a minor.
Meanwhile, the police have began looking for Kharat’s aide Mukesh Kamble, who managed to flee from the spot.
